Leading animal nutrition and forage preservation business, Volac, the manufacturer of Ecosyl silage additives, has strengthened its technical team with the appointment of Dr Adrienne Kerley.
Appointed as the company’s Research and Development Technical Manager for Forage, Adrienne will be responsible for leading the strategic technical innovation of the company’s silage additive range.
With a PhD in microbial science and more than three years’ experience in the biotechnology industry, her role will include: researching and developing new silage additive products; working with technical and business colleagues to support and expand the use of Volac’s existing silage additives; and overseeing product quality control.
As livestock farmers seek to improve the financial sustainability of their businesses and reduce their carbon footprint, and with the important role that homegrown forage plays within this, I’m looking forward to working as part of the Volac team to help farmers produce consistently better silage,” says Adrienne.
“As the 2025 drought highlighted, we can’t control the weather. But we can make sure that the effort that goes into producing silage doesn’t go to waste. Whether through good clamp management and use of well-researched inoculants to preserve silage dry matter and quality, or harvesting silage crops at their nutritional peak, making good silage all comes down to understanding the science behind what’s happening in the field and in the clamp.
That’s important, because good silage can ultimately help farms to save money on feed, and make them more resilient to volatility in milk and meat prices and more profitable,” Adrienne adds.
